Museo Sugbo
Museo Sugbo
Museo Sugbo was desiged by the only architect in Cebu during 1869, who was Domingo De Escondrillas. It was constructed during 1871 and was proposed to be the main prison for the Visayan District due to it's size when it was being constructed. It was used as a prison for Katipuneros during it's 135-year history. The site served as a stable for a racetrack nearby but was eventually turned back to a prison. Many of them were executed without trial nearby Caretta Cementer. During the Japanese colonization, guerillas were imprisoned here after enduring the torture of the Japanese Police.
These are the letters of Miguel López de Legazpi that were sent to King Philip II, these letters are the first ones sent out of the Phillipines and out of Cebu.
There was even a glass case containing money from the past, it's very different from today's money. As you can see, they used to have centavo's as bills, unlike ours which are coins.
